Unleash the Best in Your Pup: Celebrate National Train Your Dog Month at The Ranch
The Power of Relationship Based Dog Training:
In 2008 I got my first dog as an adult - and we started training. First we attended the basic training offered at one of those big box pet stores. From there we graduated to more advanced training - canine nose work, obedience training, agility, barn hunt, trick training, and more. But something I always go back to with every new dog I have welcomed to my home is basic manners training.
Now that I know more about training I seek out positive rewards based relationship building trainers, but it’s not about my dog needing to learn how to sit anymore. With a decade plus of teaching hundreds of dogs to sit - what I find most valuable in attending that first training class with each new dog is laying the foundation of our relationship that will build in the coming days, weeks, months, and years.
The relationship you build based on mutual trust, growth, and expectations through training with your dog is what sets these dogs apart as members of your family, not simply pets.
Fun and Games: Dog Training Beyond the Basics:
While nearly every dog can benefit from our Family Manners and Puppy 101 group classes, we also have even more dog training opportunities at The Ranch that move beyond dog training basics.
In 2024 we’re excited to be working with Canine Country Academy to bring dog sports here to Rutledge! We have NASDA Trailing & Locating, Nose Work Foundations, and other great sports to do with your dog.
We’re also introducing Lunch & Learn Playgroups, where your dog can come play for an hour in a playgroup led by trainer Susan Vaughn where she will be teaching on a new topic each week helping you better understand your dog.
